I don't leave reviews, but I decided to write a review on this hotel and our vacation in it. We were in the Bahia chain in Jamaica and were delighted and decided to stay in the Bahia hotel in the Dominican Republic. Location. Very good location of the hotel, excellent well-maintained territory, clean pools. We really like hotels with a large territory to take a walk in the evening. Room. In general, the room and the bathroom are clean. They clean every day, towels and bed linen are changed every day.But bed linen with stains and an unpleasant smell of dampness. I don't understand why, because the towels didn't have a bad smell, maybe they are washed separately. The problem with AC was very annoying. In the night, the cooling was turned off and we slept at a temperature of 80F. When we called the concierge with this problem, they told us that this was the problem of the whole hotel and they were solving it. The thermostat is very strange and it is not possible to change the temperature, make it more or less. Food.The biggest upset in this hotel is the buffet. We were shocked when we saw cockroaches walking on bread, along the table where we ate, on the floor. They were everywhere. There are enough staff, but they work very slowly, drinks and water were served almost when we done. The food is not delicious. I was amazed that in a five-star hotel instant coffee from a jar, there is no milk at the coffee and tea station, and even spoons to pour this coffee, I always had to ask the waiters and wait a long time. Animation. Leisure time for kids is very well organized and we really enjoyed the evening shows. Our kid was delighted with the super men show. As a result, I want to say that we had unsatisfactory moments in this hotel during our entire vacation. We tried to ignore the bad food and unsanitary conditions and enjoy the vacation, but every time something went wrong. I wish success to this hotel and good management!
We just loveeeee our vacations. One of the best vacations we had. Our room was amazing. We were surprised by a magical chocolate castle in our room. The water was warm in the pool and clean. The restaurants were amazing. I’m a vegetarian and all the resto had vegetarian food which were mostly very good. The waterparks were very fun. My kids loved them. Love that the resort is huge and that we are allowed to go to the other resorts. We took a lot of walks every morning. The beach was cleaned and beautiful. Love walking on the beach after breakfast. We like the shuttle and we took it here and there but we loved walking and looking at the nature. We did a mini golf, basketball The shows at nights were good. The entertainment around the main pool was epic. I’ve never saw in our life shows and entertainments so good around the pool. That was amazing. They did a good job. We had some fabulous employees: Luis teens club and pool was amazing. He took care of us. He played with my kids every time he was there. It was nice to see. He was one of the best employee we never saw at a resort. Lot of fun with him. We can see that he loves his work. He made our stay way better. Jose Alberto lifeguard waterpark fantasia made my kids have fun with jokes and funnies stuff around the waterpark. Fania cleaning lady was very attentive to our needs. Very nice. Smile all the time. Made swans on our bed. I felt safe around her. Randy at odisea bar water park. Mayerlyn buffet Laramir. Janser Bahia Scoot waterpark main bar nice smile. Isaury cocoro bar very nice. Brought me no alcohol drink . She remembered that I didn’t drink. Nairoby big smile at the front desk. Tried to help me. Feel like I was listen. Felt good Butler Rosa is was extremely wondeful. Big smile. Always trying to help. She suprises us with a magical dessert in our room. Omg Midouard. Is soooo funny at the lobby doing acrobats. Circus. We would definitely come back. And it’s rare that I say that hahahahahah. This place was fantastic.
first and foremost if you book, book as a package online and not at the counter. we booked for one night but once we got there the kids loved it and we booked a second night at the desk (i could not book just one night online). they charged us double. food: average. the buffets were average and the a la cartes were just okay. IT WAS SO DIFFICULT TO BOOK AN A LA CARTE!! * 5/10 * play areas: lots for kids. a big water playground although the water was cold. kids played for a bit in there. The big main pool was nice and there was a big shallow area for the kids (that progressively gets deeper) *7/10* beach: nice and well maintained although you have to take a shuttle (its a pretty far walk esp with kids) (8/10) entertainment: good for kids! the one day we stayed there was a foam party and the kids had a blast. the employees were also very very good with the children. after dinner entertainment was also awesome. shows and characters and face painting! A+ here. (10/10) Pool: warm and big. swim up bar. VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO GET CHAIRS unless you go out at 6am and reserve. (8/10)
Amazing but not a 5*
Here is my review. We travelled 20/08 till 03/09 as a family of 4, children 14 and 8. Overall we had an amazing holiday! 🔵 Staff were amazing, could not do enough for you. We never walked past a staff member who did not say hello and smile. (However, we always did the same) 🔵 Food - one of the cons was the temperature of food. It was warm at best, unless you ate from the freshly prepared sections or the Al-carte. We did Al-carte 12/14 nights and we loved it. The service was amazing at all meals times, your water is never empty and service is quick. Regardless of the temperature the choice of food was unreal! Garden Circus was always best for breakfast as quieter. The beach bar was our least favourite… cold food and flies. But this wasn’t an issue because we ate so much at breakfast and dinner that we skipped lunch from day 4! Kids loved the poolside pizzas and hotdogs so they had those instead. 🔵 Drinks - no complaints here. Tip. Take a refillable cup. We didn’t and others who had made less trips to the bar. Mini bar in the room was overstocked everyday. 🔵 Room - spacious and clean, we had a king, sofa bed and pull out. When we arrived there was no pull out but this was sorted in about 15 minutes. We were in 98292. Our Butler Fermin was amazing and gave us lots of suprises over the 2 weeks, I will add some pictures. Rooms were dated. 🔵 Entertainment- brilliant shows, the staff worked so hard and such long hours. They were always so full of energy and welcoming. 🔵 Excursions- we booked in the hotel lobby. We did Sanoa Island and Swam with dolphins. Both amazing! We also did parasailing on the beach. 🔵 Tips - sun cream and toiletries are expensive so take plenty. Their shampoo is also not great. 🔵 Beach vendors - there are lots of them but just say thank you and they carry on and are extremely polite. EXCEPT the money, lizard and parrot vendors. Do not be fooled into them putting the animals on you as they expect to be paid highly! We had 0 issues with illness. We did tip but not massively and we had amazing service. However, we smiled, we’re polite, spoke to staff and were respectful to everyone we saw. They 100% do not expect tips. The thing that let this holiday down was the other guests. I’m not sure if it’s cultural differences or what but the lack of manners and rudeness of some people really shocked me… especially in the restaurants. I do not want to cause controversy so will leave it there! The noise at night in the corridors was horrendous, slamming doors, banging, moving furniture and knocking on doors that were not theirs. This is not the hotels fault. The hotel is showing signs of wear in areas and clearly gets damaged by water from the rain. They do try and keep on top of this by maintenance but it is not to a great standard.
Its not 5 star more like a 3 star at best
We got to check in couldnt hear the guy due to the music he pointed us in the rough direction of the room, took a while late in the dark when your tired to wander around and find the room, cases turned up about 30 mins later. Buffets x2 are OK but after a couple of days its all the same, the butter on several occasions was off and theres a lot of flies in the circus buffet. Often there was no bacon at breakfast and the BBQ served me the worst peice of steak i have ever tried. Ala cartes are a change and better but make sure you get in quick on the qpp we could only book a couple, seems everyone books them up even if they dont attend as they are empty so thats a bug unfair, again noone helps you or advises on any of this. We got the japanese 5 mins late and got turned away. The mexican and argentenian were good and the staff friendly. Rooms are OK a bit worn, the pillows and bedding smelt unwashed and on 2 occasions the cleaners didnt bother cleaning our room we called reception 4 times over a 90min period for some towels, service was not what ibwoukd expect for a luxury hotel, infact pretty poor. Our son was on a make shift bed at an angle he kept falling out of. The sunloungers are a joke you need to be up with the 6am gang putting towels on to get a lounger, not my idea of fun and the pool was not very clean at all, infact im sure it wasnt cleqned daily. There is a waitress around the pool but didnt seem to come round the 2nd pool area much and was very selective who she served, tips made no difference. Big groups had their own music playing loud from their own speakers, surely thats for the clubbing holidays not a luxury resort? The kids arcades and pool tables dont work they just take your money anyway including the ones by the theatre, theres entertainment for little kids but nothing for teenagers. The evening shows were pretty naff to be fair and they played the same 3 songs everywhere. The resort is big and the buggies are good to get about, the grounds are nice and the staff freindly enough in most cases. Watch the excursions they hassle you round the pool to buy one, we did speed boat and snorkling, a 15minute ride away was actually over an hour in a hot mini van that was not even road egal and the snorkling area was empty of fish not sure why maybe the storm a few days before? In short its a nice resort, unfortunately for us we were dissaponted on the service, rooms and quality there are much better 3 star hotels we have been to over the years. I hate moaning or giving a bad review but given the cost of the trip and its 5 star rating we were really disappinted and unfortunatley wont be back.
