    Great Service and Food

Loved this resort. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant food was the best food we had on the island. Had a limited menu but what served was excellent. My only complaint was we had to check out much earlier than our flight and when I asked if there some kind of waiting area they said we would have to pay another $300 for a room.

    DUMP VIEW

I took my best friend for a relaxing and memorable experience, since she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. We arrived to the resort and checked in, we were excited to check out the view. We were told by Travelocity that we had the “Garden View” and partial view of the ocean. What a LIE!!! And very disappointed, we got a dump as a view and we were placed next to the ice machine. We literally got no sleep with all the noise and we couldn’t go out to the balcony to smell fresh air! I have placed several complaints and have not heard back from anyone! DO NOT STAY AT THE GARDEN VIEW.

    Pool good, otherwise meh

Stayed here 3 nights. The front staff lady was rude and unwelcoming. She didn't even want to wait on anyone in line and just ignored me until the other coworker helping someone else said she was open to check me in. It's such an easy thing to say "welcome to . . . Can I see your id to check you in?" If you can't do this simple task, then probably not the right job for you. The hotel itself is ok, not any entertainment besides a musician in the restaurant during dinner. They would not give any late checkouts. Other hotels in the area provide more entertainment, classes, etc. Gym is small and there are no stretching mats, you definitely need these. No leg machines. The beach is unswimmable (unless you are a pro) and rocky. I'm a good swimmer, but wouldn't go in. You can walk the beach, there are not many people on the beach at all. The pool area is nice, has a waterfall and slide and a sand bottom pool in one of them. Nothing is close by to walk to.

Very nice with a few issues - beautiful and functional location

We chose this location to stay due to it being near the airport and allowing us to go all directions easily with a car to check out all of Kauai over five days. The location is great in being central and giving access to Lihue to hit up some shops and grocery stores. The resort has a beautiful entrance through a tree tunnel with chickens running everywhere (as they do all over the island). The lady at the front desk that checked us in was very much business only and was not really helpful or cheerful, just focused on getting the job done. The hallways and some common areas need some maintenance and love, but the place overall was very nice. Beds are comfortable if a bit squishy and not terribly supportive. Rooms have good space. Noise can travel pretty easily down the hallway and into your room. Parking was easy to get into and out of, if a bit expensive on top of the resort fee. We hit the beach the first night and there was a lot of trash and wood washing up, which it was hard to tell if something had happened or if this was the norm. This is a very nice place, but it just is a few steps off of being excellent. I think that this place may have been at that level when it opened and has just some wear around the edges at this point. I understand it was just recently bought by Outrigger, so maybe that will get it some love.

    B+, WHICH IS NOT BAD!

We are locals from Honolulu and loved the location of this place. So convenient to major city of Lihue. Adored that tree tunnel as you enter the place. Attentive parking folks. Decent facilities, too. HOWEVER, there are a few things that need attention. The desk clerk registering us could not answer my question…which rates are better—-AAA or kamaaina. She wasn’t particularly welcoming and helpful, too. The swimming pool needs to be attended. Too many kids splashing, running, and screaming. None of adults could saunter in any of the three pools because of this. Plus, towels were reserving lounge chairs of folks who had scampered off to the beach. Bed mattresses are springy and not firm, but feather pillows were great. A roach had crawled up nightstand onto my half-eaten candy bar! The shower head dripped incessantly and the tub would not drain unless we removed the metal stopper. Otherwise, this is a lovely place, and, yes, I would recommend it.
