Fabulous location, lovely stay
Booked directly with Riu, which then gives free transport to and from the airport. Didn’t go smoothly but got there in the end. Confirmed return at Nexus desk in the hotel. The woman was rather rude but assured we would be picked up at seven pm. Transport did not arrive but hotel reception chased them up and arrived an hour later. Check in was quick and staff pleasant. Room fairly typical Riu. Clean and everything in order. Bed very comfy. Side sea view with small balcony. Food was quite good and a wide choice. Many parts of the restaurant offered beach views. Tried two a la cartes. The steak was good but not overly impressed with the Japanese. Most of the pool area has a lot of shade, we sat in small area above steps to the beach. Sunny all day there with a fabulous view. The beach was lovely and the sea very clear and not cold. It was windy a couple of days and this did bring waves, but was fine the rest of our stay. Pool bar was good. Riu know how to do a good pool bar. You can walk to Atlantis and look around for free after six pm. Worth a visit and to walk around the Marina and some gift shops and restaurants. Handy little shop across the road outside the hotel. Expensive but has the things you may have forgotten.

My stay last week in may
First I'll tell you the hotel is nice the ocean is clear like a pool. The thing is when we got to the room safe was not locking you can pull open even though it showed locked. On day 2 the television broke was flashing in the middle of the night. Front desk is a little slow so I go right to angela customer service She is awesome got things done. Maintenance man is awesome fixed things right away. I must point out that aut that day 3 power went out from 1153pm till 1220am I was Never at a resort and the power went out. The waves on the beach are rough. Now for the people who did amazing work. Mary the housekeeper kept up in our room.Jerrel the food servant, Angela for customer service, Sidney the waiter, The maintenance man. If you ever get into a taxi and meet BIG D an ex marine who now drives a cab he is awesome will not rob you blind.

First time at Riu Hotel on Paradise Island May/June 2023
Well what can I say….it was our first time going to the Bahamas and the Riu Hotel did not disappoint, very clean, always got staff cleaning inside and round the pool areas. The staff are so friendly and always said hi as you walked past them. Our room was quite big with a fantastic view of the ocean, pool area and we could also look out over the rest of Paradise Island which was nice. The food was really good, so much to choose from, it was nice that they did dinner in one restaurant (the steak house) then evening buffet was in the main restaurant, so you didn’t feel like u was eating in the same place every day. The Jerk station round the pool was delicious. There was never a queue to get food where ever you ate either. The pool area with the swim up bar was so much fun. The bar staff are quick with your drinks and was always entertaining. Lots of choices for drinks and they would also try make what ever drink u wanted that wasn’t on the menu. We had abit of heavy rain while we was there, it didn’t really stop us from doing anything as it was when we was going to go get ready for the evening and if it did rain while we were near the pool we just sat or stood under the covered bar. If u did go back into the hotel there was someone at the entrance with a towel if your needed one. The beach is the best I’ve seen, absolutely beautiful, it’s a good stretch of beach so if you like a walk it’s a good option. The water was so clear too. There were your usual jet ski and other water sports there and you didn’t feel pressured to pay to go on them, they were quite respectful. The evening entertainment was good, u could watch it from the bar area or take a seat in the show room like an audience. Safe to say we will definitely be returning in the future.

Bahamas
Pools close too early. Could be better food options. Also staff at buffet was not friendly. Other than that the stay was great. Rooms were very clean and mini fridge was always restocked. Front desk staff was friendly.

Riu
My friends treated me with a weekend away for my bachelor party, however we were all unhappy with the level of service. When we first arrived, our accommodations were wrong. Instead of two rooms with two queens, we were given two rooms with a king. My friends noticed two double beds combined on one headboard the next day after being transferred to the correct room, effectively the same set up as a king. They had no choice but to sleep together. While I was pleased with the cleanliness of the bathroom and shower, our balcony railing felt a little shaky, with corrosion where it was bolted to the concrete. Room 1403. While the interior of the hotel appears to be in good condition, the exterior facing the beach is missing paint in some areas and does not look great. Elevators could use a refresh, and prepare to stop at every floor on the way down for breakfast in the early morning. Also, I don't think the resort has a service elevator because we shared rides with several maintenance workers. The cuisine was adequate. Nothing to get excited about. Breakfast and lunch buffets were usually better than the dinner buffet. The specialty restaurants were underwhelming, and we frequently left hungry. I looked forward to my poolside lunch. Jerk chicken, burgers, hotdogs, and vegetables are available. We arrived late on the first day due to travel issues and were unable to make reservations for dinner the following night due to capacity, so we had to settle for the buffet. Management did not make a concerted effort to find a solution for us. The lobby has a coffee shop, however it doesn't open until around 10 a.m. Early risers must walk down to the Buffett for a cup of coffee. I don't understand why they can't open the coffee shop earlier and spare guests a trip. By the way, the sweets at this coffee shop were the best in the resort. The mixed alcoholic cocktails were disappointing. They were never really felt by me. I settled on the local beer Khalik, which was tasty. The pool area was adequate. Since the dj is usually set up by the main pool, the swim up bar could have used some music. The towel stand is located on the far side of the resort and is inconvenient to reach after leaving the beach. I'm not sure why they don't have one on the beach. To borrow a towel, you must provide your towel card each day. The beach was just stunning. However, there was no lifeguard station, no drink service, and the local vendors quickly became annoying. They roam the beach all day, asking if you want jet skis, smokey smokey, sexy pinanpple cocktails, banana boats, parasail, and so on. I understand that the resort may not have much influence over this, but I wish they could do something. The most significant point, and the reason I would never choose this resort or any other Riu for that matter, is that my friend lost consciousness on the beach after being hit in the head by an umbrella. We were able to get him up to the pool, where we waited 5 minutes for a bag of ice. We asked for Advil and were told to go to the store across the street. Some associate arrived after asking with a rusted first-aid kit containing bandages and pads. The resort has no medical services. The lobby will call an ambulance for a hospital visit that is 30 minutes away.
